Modern, sculptural seating by Bjarke Ingels and KiBiSi design group for the VIA 57 West building in New York City.

VIA57 is a modern, sculptural chair originally designed by Bjarke Ingels and KiBiSi for the VIA 57 West building in Manhattan. It now welcomes guests in homes, hotels and offices around the world. The VIA57 chair combines Scandinavian simplicity and elegance with American comfort and generosity. The chair is composed of a steel frame embedded in moulded, soft polyurethane foam. Two different densities create ideal comfort. The wooden base creates an elegant finish that makes the chair almost float in space. New textile options have been selected for durability and are wipeable for extra easy maintenance.

Bjarke Ingels in collaboration with Kibisi

Lars Holme Larsen, Bjarke Ingels and Jens Martin Skibsted had collaborated on and off for several years before founding KiBiSi in 2009. The powerful trio started up the idea-driven design company to fully exploit the synergy of their individual successful design companies and architectural firms: Kilo Design (Ki), BIG architects (Bi) and Skibsted Ideation (Si). Today, KiBiSi is considered among Scandinavia’s most influential design groups.

Driven by the good idea
KiBiSi’s founders have a common fondness of the good and rigorous idea. An eternal strive to deliver sincere, serious and clever products, which clearly communicate the original idea. The design trio often explores the potential of crossbreeding elements from different disciplines to create untraditional, functional and aesthetic solutions.
